What is UNI EN ISO 14001/2004…
ISO 14001 is a voluntary international regulation which is suitable for any type of public or private organization and it specifies the requirements necessary for an environment management system. ISO 14001 identifies one of the standards that establishes the requirements of an environmental management system of any organization. This is a certifiable standard, that is, it can be obtained from an accredited certifying body which operates within fixed regulations and conformity certifications. It is not compulsory to have an ISO 14001 certification but it is the company’s choice if they want to set, put into force, maintain active and improve their own environmental management system. Moreover, it is important to note that the ISO 14001 certification does not prove a particular environmental skill nor a particularly low impact but it does prove that the certified organization has an adequate management system that keeps the environmental impacts of its own activities under control and also that it systematically seeks to improve itself in a coherent, effective and, above all, sustainable way.
